Last Day of Internet & Web Design :(

Today is the final day of our Internet Research and Web Design course with Ryan Price. I believe that unlike a lot of classes this semester, I have truly learned some hands on skills which I never thought that I would have. Being able to understand how to create websites and blogs was something I never thought that I would be able to do. With a great teacher like Ryan, he makes learning easy and fun!

Program Description

Fanshawe’s Corporate Communication and Public Relations program is an intense one-year program designed to prepare college and university graduates to enter the exciting and challenging world of communications. Students will hone their writing and presentation skills, learn the latest desktop publishing and web design techniques and face the public relations and ethics challenges that will increase their communication related skills. A second-term field placement allows students to put these new skills to work. Students are encouraged to make business contacts through professional associations and by performing course work with a community focus. The curriculum is current, community minded, and connected to professional communicators. Graduates find work communicating in advertising and PR agencies, hospitals and health care, banking and insurance, the arts and media, small and large manufacturers, government, politics, and the not-for-profit sector. Job roles include writing, presenting, researching, facilitating, media relations, event planning, strategic planning and marketing communications. Opportunities for professional communicators occur in every employment sector. The traditional communication staple of strong writing combined with an emphasis on teamwork, progressive computer skills, and technological savvy gives graduates of this program a competitive edge. This program is suited to individuals with above-average writing skills, an outgoing personality and an ability to see solutions when others are focusing on problems. It’s hard work, with lots of assignments and deadlines to meet, but if you’re ready for the challenge, a world of career possibilities is waiting.

CC&PR Semester One

As the first semester of Corporate Communications and Public Relations comes to an end, I have been able to sit back and assess my thoughts on the last 4 months. I believe that I have gained a lot of useful skills and knowledge which I can bring into an organization.

With a background in Marketing, I feel as if the two programs blended very well. I was able to use the skills which I had gained in the Marketing Program and apply them to the CCPR Program at Fanshawe College.

Some of the classes which I thought were extremely beneficial were Internet Research and Web Design and also Presentation Skills and Multimedia. Overall, I think that I had a great semester!

It’s December!

Today is December 1st, and Christmas is just around the corner! I am eager to finish up all of my courses for the semester and head home for the holidays. It will be nice to have a month off where I don’t even have to worry about school! As I finish off the semester, I realize that it wasn’t really so bad. I think that although we had a lot of assignments and projects, I found none to be too difficult and the tedious part was simply the fact that we just had so many. Managing 8 courses and balancing the work that comes on top of it not easy work but I think that I handled it well. I hope exams go well!

Looking for a work placement…

Well, it’s almost Christmas break and it’s really time for me to start worrying about finding a work placement. During the second semester, the students in the CCPR Program must obtain first hand work experience in the field of Communications and Public Relations.

I have just finished my resume and am ready to start the hunt! The current job which I am extremely interested in is the “Marketing and Communication Intern” at Fanshawe College. I am extremely interested in this job because of the fact that I have already obtained my Marketing diploma from Fanshawe College. I would like to broaden my knowledge and gain new experience in the field of Public Relations and Communications.

Hopefully by my next post I will have heard back from the College! Wish me Luck

A Busy Week At Fanshawe College…

Well, it’s nearing Christmas time and the work load in the CCPR Program at Fanshawe College is getting more and more intense. I think this weeek I have six projects due! It always seems overwhelming but i I have simply been trying to take it one day at a time. Weeks seem to fly by and although the work load seems intense, I am getting throught it.

When I’m getting down in the dumps about school work, all I do is look outside at the snow and think about how Christmas is coming!

Well, that’s all for today! I will tune in once again next weeek!
